About Shotokan Karate JKA Academy Training:

'Mind, Body, & Spirit working in Perfect Harmony'

Our revised & made simple, Dynamic Shotokan Karate JKA style classes by Sham Aktar 6th Dan, are based upon the fighting traditions laid down of the past warrior class called samurai, & their battles & their philosophy through personal combats & conflicts of developing, forging their body, mind,& spirit through struggling to achieve peace and harmony in their surroundings, and ultimately the world.

They had to be prepared against all odds and eventualities tangible and intangible in their struggles, to survive, at the same time in self-protection and self-defence situations, they had to defeat their killers or aggresssors quickly, & effectively, with a single cut of their sword. They had to be fit mentally and physically in order to do this.

Although the times have now changed, and we don't carry swords, nor go out for battles anymore, but there is no better feeling than being fit both physically and mentally & to gain peace of mind and self-confidence :

That is what our training at the Shotokan Karate JKA Academy is all about . In order to achieve this fitness of both the mind and the body and be ready for self-defence, & self -protection, we train the physical body first, developing efficient ways of keeping balance, flexibility, strength, movements & footwork in stances combined with ways to develop strong punches, strikes, blocks, kicks, and throws in a correct way. We  focus on the correct form, & balance of each technique which requires effort and concentration,so that your body eventually learns to move effortlessly & naturally by continous practice, and repetition of technique many hundreds of times, which then form a muscle memory for action in times of self-defence or urgency .  Our martial art Shotokan JKA was developed originally by our predecessors in practical life-death conflicts & situations, and later on refined for modern day usage as a self-defence & a sport with rules .   Yet its philosophy trains its practitioners to avoid conflict & become peaceful citizens. However if conflict is unavoidable, and your life is endangered, the training then dictates finishing the opponent as quickly as possible with a single technique or finishing blow without wasting much time. However, the expected outcome of karate practise,is that after mastering these kinds of over-powering physical techniques of the body, you will strive to develop your mind, and understand your place in the world and its environments so to live in peace & harmony with everyone. This is the true way of karate as emphasised by our masters & predecessor founders of the art. Through its practice one becomes a law-abiding citizen,a humble loyal, & patient person in ones life, promoting Self-Confidence, with humility, open mindedness, and at peace with everyone around them. This is the karate that we teach at the Shotokan Karate JKA Academy.

Look at our Student Creed & Dojo Code below which every student is urged to learn and practise at all our dojos:
